 Encouraging reading, writing and the love of literature. 

At Under the Silver Tree Cooperative Bookshop, we sell a broad range of quality second-hand books as well as new books by local authors. We also specialise in books on local and regional topics. As part of our mission statement we also work to nurture a love of reading and writing throughout the far west of New South Wales.

ABOUT US

Founded in 2016 as a non-disbursement not-for-profit cooperative to provide Broken Hill and the region with a bookshop, Under the Silver Tree Cooperative Bookshop works to provide our region with opportunities to engage in reading and writing through, among other things, our donation program and writing competitions.

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

Creating Literate Communities

BOOK CLUB

The Under the Silver Tree Book Club meets monthly on the second Wednesday evening at the Junction Hotel. People are very welcome to come and join this very relaxed club to talk about what they are reading. The group usually picks a theme or a book to get things rolling. To join message us here for more information or just pop in to the bookshop.

WRITING COMPETITIONS

Under the Silver Tree Cooperative supports  local writing competitions each year.​ Please get in touch if you are interested in in helping organise a writing or poetry competition or workshop
